What is it for?

The Stakeholder Radar focuses on the initial identification of Stakeholder, before moving them into position.

Why use it?

  • To identify Stakeholders and map their State of Engagement.

  • For analysis of a Stakeholder’s current position considered versus desired position.

  • As a big 1st step of your Stakeholder Management.

When to use it

  • Anytime (Stakeholder Management is an ongoing activity)

  • At the start of a project or new piece of work

  • Incorporate within a quarterly planning exercise

  • When starting up a new team or joining a new organisation

  • Your team needs to plan it’s cross-business engagement

Visual Agile Coaching Tips

  • Your Stakeholder Radar has identified key stakeholders, follow up with proactive engagement and development of stakeholder relationships

  • Create Personas to bring stakeholders to life - well researched personas for different roles within business functions can be used to fast track Stakeholder Management

  • Teams and departments can be illustrated with a visual for: Marketing, Compliance, Risk, Operations etc.

  • Visualise the State of Engagement to illustrate the difference in mindset and emotion between each

  • Empty areas on the Radar? Doesn’t mean that there aren’t any Stakeholders, it might mean you haven’t identified them yet!

  • Don’t fire and forget. Keep the Stakeholder Radar live and fluid, revisit and update on a regular basis.
