The Visual Agile Coach Playbook - From Traffic Jam to Superhighway
From Traffic Jam to Superhighway
Too often the size of our To Do List causes a Traffic Jam. So going fast is not an option.
Get your backlog moving, deliverables flowing and outcomes achieved.
What is it for?
The Visual Agile Coach Traffic Jam Backlog is a fun tool for getting your To Do List or Backlog moving.
Why use it?
To ‘See and Show’ the work – how much, what it consists of and how fast it is moving
As a Backlog Grooming exercise
When to use it
The volume of work is overwhelming, you don’t t know where to start (or stop)
Deliverables (the “traffic”) has ground to a halt (value isn’t flowing)
Everyone is complaining how busy they are, tempers are flaring
Visual Agile Coaching Tips
Lay it all out – See and Show your work – visually displaying the full extent of a To Do List or Backlog can really help show why you need to stop starting and start finishing
The size of the work can be visualised, from scooters (small work) to trucks (large work)
Try different prioritisation frameworks i.e. Outside Lane = Must (from MoSCoW) or create your own for your context.
Remember less is quite often more in constrained resources environments.
